Held at Drovers Court, Montgomery Pavillion, Royal Welsh Showgrounds, Builth Wells, LD2 3SY.

February 27th marks a special day for the junior handlers in Wales as they compete for the title of Welsh Junior Handler of the Year 2016.

The competition is held in conjunction with Welsh Junior of the Year and is a very early start for the youngsters; they come from North, South, East and West to show off their handling skills in the hope of a sniff at this fast becoming prestigious title. Organised by the dedicated Dr Phillippa Pearson and sponsored by Myatoks rosettes from Llangedwyn, Nr Oswestry.

This year the event was judged by Nadia Angharad Al Bazi (Phylcher) whom herself has done a lot of winning both as a Junior handler obtaining many titles along the way and in her own right as an exhibitor with her Papillion’s, Lhasa Apso’s and Miniature Longhaired dachshunds.

There are only two categories the six to eleven year olds and the twelve to sixteen year olds, the winners of these categories then compete for the overall winner.

The younger category this year was won by nine year old Alana Harp-Jones handling her Shih Tzu with eleven year old Latoyha Mainwaring as second place, and ten year old Ellie Robb was in third place.

The teenager category was won by seventeen year old Hannah Pearson, with twelve year old Teigan Harp-Jones in second and sixteen year old Lyndsey Jones in third place.

The overall title was taken by Hannah Pearson this year handling her Goldie.
